Here are some pictures of Carleton and other adventures from the past week or so.
It's been my busiest term ever already. But I leave my 8:15 poli sci class completely floored, every morning. My mind is still swimming, and it's really better than coffee or sleep. I'm also having fun with the newspaper, which is intimidating at first but they are a pretty laid back and helpful group. Also, I guess I should say, to tune into KRLX saturday mornings from 10-12 central time. A much more convenient time than 5-7... I paid my dues.

So over the weekend I went to see Sigur Ros in the cities. My first prim and proper sit-down. The opening band was made up of the people in their string quartet, which was very cute and used wine glasses and a saw with a cello bow as instruments. Sigur ros put on a stunning show. Truly unspeakably beautiful sometimes and I can't put it into words very well so you will just have to see for yourself, some day.

Also, I finally got a new hard drive but its all very empty. So now would be a good time for some mixed cd swaps. yeyah.

Enjoying the sunny day. Young people and music and bright blue balloons.
And Bill, hiding behind a sandwich.

More pictures of all the clubs set up on the bald spot. The girl shading the sun from her eyes is Becky, who is very passionate about very worthy causes.

And then some jugglers.

And lastly Hunter, the unbearably cute puppy that lives at crack house.

There is a lapse in my picture taking as I was getting re-adjusted. Just been busy with classes and clubs I suppose.

But here are some good sunny pictures from the Activities Fair.

You'll see Ghandha (Matt) and Lydia in the first picture, along with
some other kids slacklining.

I stayed with Maura at her hott and scandelous apartment (located in a church building) for a night before going back to Carleton.

There was a party next door and I got to meet some great people like this girl with the crazy glasses.

A good start to the school year, I'd say.

morning in morgantown
no wonder she wrote a song about it.

and this is what I did on my last night in town. A lovely evening.

We jumped the fence into the football stadium which was testing the screens, so there were many nice colored lights shifting.

Jon stole what he thought was a torch, as we were leaving, but it turned out to be a wonder mop.

It was a long walk to the end of the road so I stopped to take a picture.

queen of the pavement

wow. so here is the law school hill, which I visited on one of those last few lonely Morgantown days.

What a beautiful place.

Here is the sad news:
After a summer of various sicknesses and symptoms, my laptop finally bit the dust. The nice kids at the student computing center explained there was physical damage to the hard drive, and while I was never abusive, I could've been a little careless every now and then. Anyways, no more pictures, music, secret spy documents, or the ability to update my website.

Which is why I am here.

Despite my best efforts to avoid a blog for many months now.

But I've started to take pictures again, and it would be quite a tragedy if there was no way to share them.

It's fantastic being back. Much better the second year, knowing whats going on, and especially not getting caught in the initial friend-making frenzy, which I found very fake and disheartening. My classes are all enjoyable, which is a first. Economics is my least favorite because everything is oversimplified into money and material gain, which can be depressing but this is only one aspect of life. My political science professor is brilliant, and very good at keeping me excited and interested at 8:15 in the morning. Metalsmithing is also going well. I was worried because its something I never tried before, but I spent the afternoon in the studio making things I am proud of. The textures and weight of the material and sounds of sawing and drilling is really beautiful, and an upperclassman was working with the blow torch today, which I will learn soon.

I also almost added a painting class. But overloading with 4 classes is kind of a big deal, and I may be able to paint in my spare time. Instead I'm getting a job at the instrument library and joining a bunch of clubs I had always wanted to join. Hopefully time for a social life and pleasure reading in between.

And concerts. Minneapolis is a good place for that. I'm seeing Sigur Ros next weekend with a girl I havent met yet. I give their new album two thumbs up

Enjoy the pictures. Enjoy the sun. Enjoy your worries because you may never have them again.

aha :D
